About Our Weather Station The station has a wireless Davis Vantage Vue system with rain, wind, humidity, temperature sensors, and data logger.  It is installed on an elevated roof mount at 30' above ground level and approximately 350 feet (107 meters) elevation above sea level.  The station is located near the shore of Lake Ontario in Webster, New York and is owned and operated by Don Vallone.  The station provides around-the-clock real-time weather data supporting the local community and various climate and public service agencies, including SKYWARN and the Citizen Weather Observer Program (CWOP - APRS Weather Net) - both of which directly support NOAA and the National Weather Service forecast offices.  Don is a trained meteorologist and certified weather spotter.  He is also an FCC-licensed amateur radio operator supporting emergency services.             The Skywarn® network is the nation's first line of defense against severe weather. Skywarn® and the Skywarn® logo are registered trademarks of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, used with permission.   The Citizen Weather Observer Program (CWOP) is a public-private partnership with three goals: 1) to collect weather data contributed by citizens; 2) to make these data available for weather services and homeland security; and 3) to provide feedback to the data contributors so they have the tools to check and improve their data quality.   The Amateur Radio Emergency Service is a corps of trained amateur radio operator volunteers organized to assist in public service and emergency communications.
