born and raised in Buffalo, graduated from Buffalo State Teachers'
College and started out teaching in a 1 room schoolhouse, when it was
necessary to keep the potbelly stove going during the winter months.
Nina's passion was her family. She enjoyed being a homemaker, cooking
and gardening, entertaining family and friends, going to their summer
cottage at 1000 Islands, fishing with her husband Joe, and traveling
the US and Europe. She met her husband Joseph when he went to Buffalo
Law School and came to visit his godmother, Clara Polizzi, who was
Nina's grandmother. They knew each other for 7 years before getting
married. While Nina was attending college, her future husband Joseph
traveled from Rochester to Buffalo every weekend to see her, taking a
train that cost $1.00 for a round trip. After they were married,
Joseph and Nina lived in Rochester where her husband practiced law
until his death in 1980. Nina was fortunate to have had many loving
and caring friends who supported her throughout her life end
especially during the last 5 years, after she had open heart surgery,,
had to move out of her condo after a fire destroyed the building, had
many falls and broken bones. Her friends never failed to call, bring
flowers or meals, or visit. Her friends, family, cousins, nieces and
nephews were always there for her, through health and sickness. She
was also fortunate to have wonderful caring doctors, especially Dr.
Howard Beckman. Dr. Lawrence Gage, and Dr. Christopher Grammar, and
